Literature Text

we ponder at the stars and constellations and
puzzle over
things that haven't happened yet
lying on our backs, allowing
our fire-hearts to scorch our lungs and
quench our thirst for poetry as we spew the few
verses we've memorised together at each others' jaw lines;
I want to open your eyes to the fact that our breath is burning my precious moon
and you want to stun me with the facts you learned from book-keeping;
the sun hasn't shined on us together like this since we first met
and
I wonder how you've managed
to smile exactly the same smile everyday since;
the stars I once thought so precious in the sky have found a new home in the colour of your eyes;
and
I think that befits you
because
you call me the sun and
I've always said you
make me fall to pieces.
this is somehow new and old all at once
I think it's because I've been wanting to say it for a very long time now

I'm sorry I can't stop submitting this rubbish poetry.
